Hytale entered Early Access on January 13, 2026, and is currently available on PC for Windows, macOS, and Linux via the official Hytale Launcher. Console versions are not available yet, so you need a supported desktop operating system to play.
Yes, Hytale is a version-based game that now receives regular updates with new features, balance changes, and bug fixes. Instead of classic semantic versions, builds are identified by date-and-hash style tags such as [2026.01.14-3e7a0ba6c].
The Hytale Launcher exposes two main branches: releases (stable builds) and pre-releases (experimental builds). Releases are recommended if you want the most stable experience, while pre-releases are for players who want to try upcoming content early and accept a higher risk of crashes, bugs, or world-breaking changes.
At the moment, the Hytale Launcher only lets you choose between the latest stable release and the latest pre-release build, so full downgrades to older builds are not supported. If a pre-release causes issues, the best option is to switch back to the latest release branch for improved stability.
Early Access builds will have issues, so Hytale includes an in-game "Bug Report / Give Feedback" button and a similar option inside the launcher that you can use to submit problems directly to the developers. Use these tools to describe the bug, include screenshots or logs if possible, and mention your current version so the team can reproduce and fix it more easily in future patches.
Public servers typically run on the latest available version, so your launcher and selected branch must match the server's version to connect successfully. If you cannot join a server, confirm which branch and version it uses and select the same one (release or pre-release) in the Hytale Launcher.
